Interviewer
Guy Reid
Director, Planetary Collective
Guy Reid is a Filmmaker / Director, Writer and Consultant - Curator. He is a founder of Planetary Collective and Constellation Foundation. He has spent the past decade creating films which highlight the work of astronauts, scientists, futurists, and thinkers; his work largely serves to parse the technical and scientific narrative of sustainability, biodiversity loss, and climate change into stories, visuals, and language that can be communicated to a wide audience.
His notable work includes the documentary film "Overview" (2012), one of the most watched documentary films on Vimeo, which examines the Overview Effect and features interviews with astronauts who have experienced it. Reid directed “Planetary” (2015), a 85 minute visual docu-essay featuring 30 scientists, thinkers, philosophers and indigenous leaders contemplating the meaning of ‘being planetary’, which premiered at SXSW Film Festival and was screened at 30+ other film festivals.
Reid is known for his visually stunning and thought-provoking storytelling, using film as a medium to inspire a deeper understanding of our place in the universe and promote a sense of interconnectedness. The impact of his work have helped raise awareness about the importance of environmental stewardship and the profound perspectives gained from space exploration. He holds a Masters in Leadership in Sustainable Development from London’s ‘Forum for the Future’.
