Trust in democracy, and institutions more generally, is declining among young people around the world. A healthy democracy depends on a public sphere built on common facts and shared values, both of which seem increasingly rare. And today we are witnessing a further erosion of truth by AI that is influencing our elections and changing our politics. What does this portend for democracy and the critical issues on the global agenda? Can AI be harnessed to improve the health of a fractured public sphere?
