David Drury is a sound artist whose practice involves both traditional composition as well as innovative forms of audio storytelling for immersive experiences. Drawing on over 20 years of work in field recording and sonic storytelling, The Language Model lab asks; what kind of a language emerges when intelligence is raised on a mono diet of text? What gets lost without sound or scent or touch, without bodily being, without the myriad languages of the more-than-human world?
The Language Model is not a manifesto against AI - the piece was created in part through extensive dialogue with GPT-4 - but rather an appeal to open our ears and minds to a deeper sense of what words are made of, of where stories come from, of what our conception of language might become.
*Please note that the labs and coachings are participative activities in small groups, and will take place several times a day between 9.30am and 5pm. You will be able reserve your time slot on our platform starting May 9th.
